When a world champion visits the FIFA Museum, he or she is traditionally reunited with the trophy they lifted at the Final. This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the USA’s Heather O'Reilly, FIFA Women’s World Cup™ champion in 2015, to the museum.

In a 14-year international career that began in 2002, Heather O’Reilly made 231 appearances for the USA, scoring 47 goals. She left a big mark in women’s football, winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada in 2015 and Olympic gold in 2004, 2008 and 2012.

As part of a live talk about ‘the career after the active career’, O'Reilly visited the FIFA Museum this week together with the other participants of the educational programme "The Next 90", which was created by FIFA and CIES. Before the talk began, the 30 former internationals participating in the programme were toured through the museum.

The highlight of the tour was O’Reilly’s joyfull reunion with the FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy. As tradition demands, the trophy's display case was opened and the 2015 world champion was allowed to raise it once again six years after her triumph. After the emotional reunion with the trophy, O'Reilly completed the small ceremony by adding a gold pin next to her name on the Wall of Champions.
