<p>Giorgio Gazzaniga, the son of man who designed and created the FIFA World Cup Trophy, visited FIFA World Football Museum on Thursday 2 June 2016. He told staff that his father, Silvio Gazzaniga, was curious to learn about the museum, and that he had personally found it to be very emotional. </p> <p>Standing next to his father's most famous creation, the FIFA World Cup Trophy, he said: "I remember being 14 and helping my dad make the sculpture. I had to hold the base while he did design work on the prototype!" </p> <p>Silvio Gazzaniga designed the trophy while he was working at the Stabilimento Artistico Bertoni company. His design replaced the Jules Rimet Cup, designed by Abel Lafleur, which had been awarded to Brazil in 1970 following their third World Cup victory. It was lifted for the first time by West Germany's Franz Beckenbauer, after his team defeated the Netherlands. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
